Cayena aims to be a catalyst for art and culture, both within the university and in the broader Caribbean region
Program Coordinator
(January 2020 - October 2021)
In my time as the Program Coordinator at Cayena Uninorte, and in response to the challenges of the pandemic, I led the development of digital strategies to promote our cultural programming online. I worked closely with local and national cultural figures to feature them in virtual events and content, helping Cayena remain an active and visible creative space during a time of physical distance.
One of the highlights of my role was participating in and overseeing Cayena’s rebranding process. I personally designed the logos for some of our key programs, like Miopía (film club), Murmullos (book club), CACS (Cátedra Alvaro Cepeda Samudio), and the Cayeye Caribbean Festival; and guided the visual direction for Jagüey, first edition of Cayena’s annual call artist.
I also headed communication initiatives that unified efforts across the Mapuka Museum, Uninorte Editorial, and Uninorte FM Estéreo, ensuring brand consistency and strategic alignment. My responsibilities included developing marketing reports and insights to support the center’s leadership in making data-informed decisions.

Special Project and Cultural Experiment
As part of a broader interactive public campaign, we launched Esto también es Cultura (‘This is Also Culture’) hoping to start a new, inclusive dialogue around the meaning of culture in the Caribbean region of Colombia.
Through the campaigns Y para ti, ¿qué es cultura Caribe? (And what’s culture for you?), we encouraged community participation via digital platforms like quescultura.com and outdoor billboards (along Carrera 53 in Barranquilla), inviting people to contribute their own definitions of Caribbean culture.
My role: As the Program Coordinator, I was responsible to design the billboard focusing on the goal to be irreverent, suggestive and out of the ordinary. Later on I recollected audience’s answers in our website and created digital content and further cultural campaigns based on the experiment’s results.
Deconstructing Cayena’s Logo
My role: As the Program Coordinator, I was responsible for overseeing and guiding the conceptual development of the logo in close collaboration with the intern graphic designer. Together, we aimed to create a clean and modern design that emphasized legibility and sophistication.
The final result blends typography with geometric shapes and patterns that evoke the vibrancy and fluidity of the Caribbean—an abstract reflection of regional identity. These visual elements symbolize connection, cultural dialogue, and creative energy, aligning with Cayena’s mission.

In 2022, we joined the national celebration of the 100th anniversary of Cecilia Porras, one of Colombia’s most iconic modern artists.
My role: T-Shirt basic design, production, and promotion.
